More Than Just Miles:

Sandy’s Impact on the 100 Mile Club Community!

You’ll often hear from us that 100 Mile Club is built on the foundation of community. Who and what we are today wouldn’t be possible without the incredible members and volunteers who embody our mission and vision, and find ways to contribute out of the kindness of their hearts. Today, we want to celebrate and shine our spotlight on Sandy Stockman Mielo! Sandy hosts Monday Mile Madness at Pikes Peak Park in Norco, CA, every Monday night.  Here, anyone can earn their miles, and do so surrounded by a positive and supportive community.

Sandy has been involved with 100 Mile Club since 2011, and what started as something simple, turned into a passion. At the time, the little girl she was babysitting was in kindergarten, and she wanted to be a part of 100 Mile Club. “She really wanted to do it,” Sandy says, “but her mama didn’t get off work in time, so I told her I would take her.” Sandy took her to the very first night ever at Pikes Peak Park, where our founder, Kara Lubin, was hosting.  “She asked me if I could help write tickets & pass out sticks, and the rest is history. The little girl is now a senior at Norco High School, and I am up at Pikes Peak Park every Monday night from 5:30 to 6:30, and I love every minute of it.”

It takes a special kind of heart to dedicate time to others like Sandy has. Over the last 11 years, her influence has been anything but one dimensional and has touched the lives of many. “Some of the moms that started with us had babies and toddlers or were pregnant,” she writes, “and now I get to watch those babies grow into full blown running machines.”

Sandy has provided a safe and supportive space for a multitude of different people to reach their goals, and doing so all these years with a humble mindset, saying, “It’s just what I do on Monday nights 🥰”

Thank you, Sandy!
