Corona Police and 100 Mile Club
Team Up to Fight Childhood Obesity

Since its inception, 100 Mile Club has been dedicated to creating happy, healthy kids through partnerships with like-minded organizations. One of our most impactful collaborations has been with the Corona Police Department (Corona, CA). Together, we launched Run with ACOP (Anti Childhood Obesity Project) in February 2016 to combat the rising rates of childhood obesity.
Why Run with ACOP Matters
Did you know that approximately 1 in 6 children between the ages of 2 and 19 are affected by obesity? Run with ACOP aims to change that statistic by:
- Raising awareness: Highlighting the importance of physical activity and healthy habits.
- Promoting active lifestyles: Providing fun and engaging opportunities for kids to get moving.
- Building community: Connecting young people with their local police officers in a positive setting.

How Run with ACOP Works
Every second Tuesday evening, kids and their families gather outside Corona City Hall to run or walk with members of the Corona Police Department. It’s a chance for 100 Milers to earn extra miles outside of school while supporting a great cause!
What Makes Run with ACOP Special
Run with ACOP is more than just a fitness program. It’s a community event that fosters camaraderie and encourages healthy competition.
- Fun themes: Each month features a different theme, like “represent your favorite sports team,” adding an element of excitement.
- Incentives and rewards: Participants earn bracelets and other prizes for reaching milestones.
- Social media recognition: 100 Milers are often featured on the Corona Police Department’s social media pages.
“My kids love Run with ACOP,” says a long-time 100 Mile Club participant, Tracy Huff. “What makes the meet-up special is you get to run or walk with the safety of the CPD, and they always have a theme!”
